Beach Fashion: Do's & Don'ts

There’s nothing more exciting than going on summer vacation to some of the hottest beaches in the world. And we know summer beach fashion is at a whole other level: beach swimsuits, wrap-arounds, straw hats, beaded accessories, and whatnot. Your being a bikini babe would never be complete without all these things. However, the beach is still a playground for many. Whether you’ll like it or not, you are likely to get wet and sandy. So comfort should never be totally compromised with your summer beach fashion. Here are some tips to help you avoid being a fashion victim in Cancun, St. Barts, or wherever you’re planning to get a tan:
- Do not wear heels at the beach – There may be nothing sexier than a two-piece bikini and the latest wedge sandals but unless you’re planning to just hang out in the hotel all day, please do not tread the soft, glittering sands by the beach. Shoes with heels usually get buried in the sand. Instead of looking sexy, you’ll look funny and uncomfortable wrestling with soft ground. For your summer beach fashion, use really pretty flip flops or stylish flat sandals instead. If you want a bit of height there are flip flops which are elevated by an inch or two.
- Do not wear bikini bottoms with black ruffles - Unless you want to look like you haven’t had a wax down there, avoid the very busy looking beach swimsuits. You would want to look stylish but not like you’re growing an illegal forest near your crotch.
- Do not wear fancy jewelry, especially if you’re planning to get a dip – There are tons of wonderfully made accessories and fancy jewelry out there. It’s better to stick with these items. Sure, your jewelry won’t fade in salt water but there’s a huge chance they’ll get lost. Besides, you’re not shooting a beach side music video. It’s better to look simple. Summer beach fashion is not about fancy jewelry. You also wouldn’t want to spend the rest of the afternoon looking for a lost gold charm bracelet now, would you?
- Do not get your hair done – This is exactly why hats and floral hair ties were made, so you can make use of them at the beach. The wind, the sun, and the water will all ruin your hair in the wink of an eye. So you better leave blow-dried and styled hair out of your summer beach fashion style. Sure, it would be nice to have pretty locks to match your newest bikini but if it gets ruined you’d have no way of keeping it to yourself. Try a sleek and bouncy pony tail, a half pony tail, or some fun braids. You’ll never know, those water sports can be very tempting; you have to be ready for them.
- Do wear sunglasses, beach shawl, or chiffon top – These items will make your beach outfits extra stunning. Sunglasses not only protect you from the sun, but allow you to give discreet gazes towards those hot hunks. A beach shawl is perfect for a wrap around, or as a mat on the sand for sun bathing. A chiffon top or dress is cool and sexy for when having lunch by the beach, especially because your beach swimsuit can be seen through it. This way you can show off your summer beach fashion while enjoying your vacation.
