According to Alexander McQueen, if you want to stand out in a crowd you should stay away from it. But can you really help it if the crowd loves you too much that your inbox and shelf space are just filled with so many party invitations? For sure it would be more of a challenge to outstand a whole crowd rather than be outstanding alone. And there's nothing more exciting than having fashion wars with only the most gorgeous and fashion forward femmes of the season. At the end of the night, you'll all come together and be photographed as one anyway, all exuding different styles. Still, the war is on. Here are tips on how to blow those fashion vixens away.
Get ahead - There's no better way in winning all those fashion wars than to always be the first to be updated on all the trends. Though it might require a bit of work and a lot of reading, knowledge on fashion is key to learning how to put together only the best styles and clothing combinations. To get ahead you may also be the first one to copy a well-renowned style but using what you know to put together something new is the best. If you get ahead you'll always look unique and original. Getting beyond what is trendy will make you an unforgettable fashionista.
Get real - It's okay to get by with all the "in" things. But if you're not comfortable with what you're wearing, or if you feel that you don't look good in some garbs, don't even force the issue. Whether you like it or not, you'll always have a style of your own and a way of putting things together. So get real with your choices. If those 4-inch heels or puff sleeves are too much to handle then don't think of putting them on. There's so much to choose from. Just because it's in season it doesn't mean you have to wear it. If you get real with clothes and fashion then you get real with yourself. And there's nothing more outstanding than a genuine fashionista.
Get connected - Connections, connections, connections... How else would you get updated if you don't get connected with the best designers and the power of media? Read up on the best magazines and stay close to great local designers. Be in touch with the big wigs of fashion by viewing all the fashion shows possible. Be in touch with experts and watch videos or attend talks on make up tips, clothing designs, modelling, and whatnot. The internet is very powerful. Surely you can read up on fashion articles, blogs, and be a part of a worthy fashion forum. Attending parties is not enough to keep up with all the fashion frenzy and outdo women in fashion wars. So get connected daily.
Be daring - It's advisable to stick with your own style, but getting too stereotypical is just plain boring. You must try new clothes, shoes, bags, make up tricks, color combinations, accessories, and whatnot. Being fashion forward really means moving on with new things. Be daring enough to display what's new and constantly dressing up in style. It's okay to be over dressed every now and then if it's all in the name of fashion. And be daring enough to be open about your fashion statement. Do not be too conscious about what people might say. You are your own and people love fierce fashionistas.
Love your own - The problem with keeping up with fashion sometimes is constantly mimicking the trends without really appreciating or being passionate about it. Some wear this and that just for the sake of being up to date and yet they're not happy about it. So wear what you love and love what you wear. Stop keeping an eye on everyone or being jealous of the rest. It's alright to admire but it's not right to always be conscious of how others look. You'll kill this unhealthy kind of insecurity if you love your own clothes, love your own style, and love your own world of fashion.
