Deskbound Yoga

The bad news is that body fat does not limit itself to one area. You can have that in your butt, on your thighs, on your arms… I can go on and on but I think you get the idea. If you let yourself go, you’ll have a spongy self to contend with. Horrified yet?
Let’s start slow. You’ll probably hurt yourself if you rush off to the gym this afternoon. What I recommend are some yoga moves on that chair you so love. Begin with some office exercise and then work yourself up from there. The good news is that you can do these anytime you’re sitting.
First, some simple moves. I promise these won’t leave you gasping for breath. You begin by sitting at the edge of your chair. Place your feet flat onto the floor and make sure that they are hip-width apart. Put your palms on your thighs and straighten your back. Breathe deeply and inhale and exhale for the same length of time for five counts. This you can do any number of times that you like. Now, doesn’t that sound easy?
Now do some stretching. While sitting in the same position, take a deep breath and stretch out your arms overhead. Breathing exercises are ideal for belly fat reduction as they help in exercising the abdominal muscles. Hold your left wrist with your right and when you exhale, bend to the right. Do the same for your left side when you hold your right wrist with your left hand. You can do this for the length of three breaths. You can still breathe right?
Next, bring your arms down and then circle your shoulders. Do this for about ten times. This feels better if you do it in time to your inhales and exhales. Now, listen closely because it’s about to get a little complicated. Put your arms behind you and then interlace your fingers, stretch it out. C’mon, I know you can do it. Do this for about three breaths.
That wasn’t so hard, was it? You are now at the beginnings of losing all that sponginess. Yoga can be performed regularly to fight the battle against the bulge. Remember there are no quick fixes. Only practice and patience will ensure that you come out a winner. Do this routine regularly. May the firmness be with you.
