In a society where everything is a rush, people tend to forget the word health. Health is defined as the condition of being sound in mind, body, and spirit. This also means freedom from physical disease and pain.

People nowadays are practicing bad health habits that are detrimental to the health. You might know it, but what you are already putting your health at risk. Let me give you an example. When you eat your favorite cookies or chips you think that you are feeding yourself.  Did you know that this can make you gain weight and make you unfit?

Here are examples of trivial actions that are considered bad health habits:

Eating leftovers

Mother’s used to eat the food left on their son’s plate saying the world is hungry and food should not be wasted. Yes. You are saving food –but gaining extra calories. What do you expect? Take only what you can consumed. Set a good example and the kids will follow.

Not having breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It will give you energy for your hectic day. Be mindful of your breakfast intake.

Eating in a hurry

Don’t give your digestive system a hard time by eating in a hurry. This is one of those bad health habits that you should really ditch. When you eat very fast, chances are you forget to watch your calorie intake. A good solution to this is to avoid going hungry.

Not having enough sleep

Staying up late is never healthy for the body. You need enough rest to give yourself a chance to recover from a long day. Never deprive your body of a enough sleep.

Drinking too much coffee

People think coffee can’t harm the body. This is wrong. Being dependent on coffee is like being on drugs. Coffee has and addictive substance called caffeine. Minimize you daily coffee intake if you can’t help it. Another thing to consider are the coffee add-ons. An extra sachet of sugar, a flavored sweetener or syrup and even whipped cream could all add up to more calories that you will have to burn.

Eating too much chocolates and sweets

Simple sugars tend to spike the glucose levels in the bloodstream. This is not a very healthy idea. Do your body good by skipping on sweeteners and chocolate products.

Being overweight

We tend to think that gaining weight is healthy. Too much gain weight can lead to obesity. Obesity comes so many health problems so start losing that excess weight now!

Now that you know which are helpful and which are not, start evaluating yourself.  It’s just a matter of discipline. Do you want to live a healthy life? You decide.
